Pre-K Program (3.5-4.5 years)
Research consistently shows that a quality pre-k program has a positive effect on a child’s ongoing educational trajectory, as well as on the rest of their lives (National Institute for Early Education Research, 2018). Experts at NIEER have found that pre-kindergarten programs have a significant impact on children’s long-term success. The research showed that children who attended high quality pre-K programs entered kindergarten with better vocabularies, as well as more advanced literacy and math skills than children who didn’t.
Our schools are unified by our shared vision and mission; namely the “primacy effect” that the earliest events in life are the most important and formative ones and are the critical determinants of the long course of development. The flexibility of our schools opens the doors to possibilities and divergent paths, affording each location communal ambiance, energy and the integration of icons and prominent architecture. We are a collection of boutique schools for young children where each child’s intellectual, emotional, social, and moral potentials are carefully cultivated and guided.
All young children have active and lively minds from the start. The basic dispositions to make sense of experience, investigate it, care about others, relate to them, and adapt to their physical and cultural environment are inborn dispositions. These inborn dispositions flourish, deepen and strengthen under the right conditions. Relationships and interactions form the nuclei of educating young children.
We focus our collective and individual vigor on the quality of day-to-day interactions of children and their teachers in their moments together so that they become rich, interesting, engaging, satisfying, and meaningful. Together we shape a pebble that could have very large consequences.
Pedagogy that makes us different:
Our teaching and learning philosophy is based on Multiple Intelligence theory developed by Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. A child can be taught in a wide variety of ways using music, cooperative learning, art activities, role play, multimedia, field trips, inner reflection, and much more.
Children at Tulip Kids are valued members of the learning environment, with their individual needs and interests helping shape the curriculum. Through thematic teaching, Tulip Kids brings together various aspects of the curriculum into meaningful association. Social studies, emergent literacy, mathematics, science, music, art and sports classes are introduced each day. Play and exploration are also vital components of the learning process. Each classroom follows a developmentally appropriate curriculum to strengthen and increase the skills and knowledge of each child.
At Tulip Kids we value parent communication and encourage families to play an active role in the educational process. Through daily emails, class websites, parent-teacher conferences and daily check-ins, parents are involved in every step of the learning process.
